Congratulations – you’re engaged! 😀
You have an exciting journey ahead of you, full of anticipation, emotions and decisions. To make sure you don’t lose track of everything, I’ve written this article for you – as the first stage of your journey to a completely successful wedding.
As an event manager and wedding planner, I have already been able to accompany many couples on this special journey. I have observed one thing time and time again: Every bride’s (and groom’s!) best friend is a well thought-out checklist.
Structure instead of chaos – why a checklist is so important
When the marriage proposal is freshly made, the ideas often just bubble out of you: vintage or modern? Big celebration or intimate gathering? Location by the water or in the mountains? This is exactly where a checklist can help you, because it brings order to the carousel of thoughts.
With a clear structure, you know at all times what has already been done and which decisions still need to be made. You can set priorities, divide up tasks – and at the same time have a great feeling when you can tick off point by point.
The first big step: your wedding concept
Before you dive into details such as flower arrangements, menu cards or candy bar, I recommend that you first define the framework of your wedding. This is the foundation on which everything else is built.
Ask yourself the following questions:
- What kind of wedding do you want? (civil, church, free)
- How many guests would you like to invite?
- Where should the celebration take place – and how important are aspects such as overnight accommodation, accessibility or independence from the weather to you?
- Which style appeals to you? (Boho, elegant, rustic, maritime…)
- What colors, decorative elements or rituals would you like to incorporate – and what doesn’t suit you at all?
- Who can help you with the organization?
My pro tip: Take the time to write down independently how you envision your wedding. No filters, no restrictions – just your wish list. Then sit down together and compare your ideas. This not only creates clarity, but is also really fun!
Planning with heart – and mind
Of course, wedding planning should be fun. But sometimes it can also be challenging – especially when many opinions clash or something doesn’t go as planned. That’s why it’s so important that you keep reminding yourselves that it’s about both of you.
Keep your wishes in mind, stay calm – and don’t let the pressure of perfection overwhelm you. With good preparation (and the right support), your day will be unforgettable.
